Trusting the Hand that Feeds

My elderly father has befriended a little robin which regularly visits his garden. 🎥⬇️

What amazes me is the trust.

By nature the little bird is wary of people, yet it knows the hand that feeds it. It knows where kindness has been shown, where provision is found, and it comes without fear.

How different we can be with God.

Every good thing we possess has come from His hand. Every breath, every blessing, every day is given by Him. Above all, He gave His own Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die for sinners.

Yet we hold back. We doubt Him. We are reluctant to trust Him.

How foolish we are.

If a little bird can learn to trust the hand of its benefactor, surely we should trust the God who has given us everything.

The robin comes because it has learned that the hand stretched out towards it is a hand of kindness. And the Gospel tells us that the hand of God is stretched out to sinners in mercy.

We do not need to wonder whether He is willing to save. He has already given His Son. We simply need to come to Him, trusting not in ourselves, but in Christ alone.

🙏 Perhaps there is a simple lesson from that little robin in the garden today. Trust the One who has given you everything.
