Nestling in a quiet western corner on the Co. Fermanagh border with Co. Monaghan is Killyfole Lake. It is an idyllic spot, with a peaceful circular walk around its shore.
During our recent beautiful spring weather, I walked this lake for the first time in several years. The water was so still that every cloud in the evening sky could be seen reflected on its surface. Birdsong filled the trees. Calves skipped in the nearby meadow. The only sound was the gentle plop of fishing tackle entering the water as lines were cast. 🎣
The peace and serenity were a reminder that life, at times, is calm. We are thankful for such moments of peace and reflection.
But life is not always so straightforward. There are occasions when we feel more like the crashing waves of the wild Atlantic than the still waters of an inland lake. 🌊
Yet even then, there is peace for the most troubled soul, in Christ alone. He walked upon the waters of Galilee as He came to His disciples. He called upon the winds to cease their howling, and suddenly there was a great calm.
He can bring calm to your heart and still the unrest in your mind. 💙
Ultimately, an evening walk in springtime reminds me of new beginnings. Spring is a season of new life and new hope. Jesus died to bring us new life. He said, “Ye must be born again.” 🌱
This is the path to true peace.
