𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟯 – Isaiah 9:2,6,7

✨ 𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗢 𝗨𝗦 𝗔 𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗 𝗜𝗦 𝗕𝗢𝗥𝗡 ✨

At Christmas we reflect upon a child who was born to bring hope to a world filled with hopelessness, to bring light to a world of darkness, to bring peace to a world of trouble 🎄.

One who does not sense the hopeless despair that fills humanity is proof that they themselves are struggling, groping in the dark. In a world filled with wars, displaced people, famines, poverty, pandemics, disease, depression, injuries, cruelty, murder, thieving, dishonesty, extreme weather events, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes and ultimately death we must ask – Where is the light and where is the hope? 🌍

With the passing of time are we not learning increasingly that the darkness is encroaching, it’s menace increases and we are powerless to prevent its spread? Science, politics and philosophy, not even religion can halt its spread and bring light, peace and hope to our troubled world.

Isaiah saw the light for a people like us who walked in darkness. This light would dawn, however, through a child born, who was also a son given. He would have a stupendous array of titles: “Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”.

As Mary cradled the infant in her arms the child had been born but it was God who gave His Son to be our light in the midst of our darkness ✨.

Of all the amazing titles this child was bestowed with, perhaps “Counsellor” is the most relevant. Counsellors are a profession designed to bring us insight, comfort and understanding. Some are good using biblical principles while others are poor using secular godless standards in their applications. But there is no counsellor equivalent to Jesus Christ.

He has empathy and understanding which none can match. He came to counsel us, to guide us, to bring light ✝️.
